Cosa si può ottenere da una marmetta 40x40? Dalle mattonelle di marmo ripescate nei magazzini polverosi delle nostre aziende artigiane? Quali cose si possono realizzare tagliandole con una macchina a tecnologia water jet, assemblandone semplicemente i pezzi senza creare scarti di materiale?
Little Gerla, l'ultimo oggetto nato da questa ricerca, é una collezione di 4 vasi di forme e dimensioni diverse ottenuti da un'unica marmetta di recupero di cm. 40x40x3 senza produrre scarti di materiale lavorato. Con il taglio waterjet la marmetta viene divisa in quattro pezzi uguali di cm. 20x20x3 e da ognuno di questi vengono ricavati degli anelli concentrici con uno spessore sottilissimo, di circa 4 mm che, sovrapposti e ruotati tra loro, vanno a comporre le forme dei quattro vasi. Vasi leggerissimi come se fossero di porcellana, la cui superficie é caratterizzata dalla naturale texture lasciata dal taglio del waterjet.

The last object born to this research is Little Gerla a collection of 4 vases of different sizes and shapes obtained from a single Marble tiles of cm. 40x40x3 without producing waste material. With waterjet cutting the tile is divided into four equal pieces of cm. 20x20x3 and from each of these concentric rings are formed with a very thin thickness, about 4 mm which, superimposed and rotated among themselves, go to make the shapes of the four vases. Vases very lightweight as if they were made of porcelain, whose surface is characterized by the natural texture left by the cutting of the waterjet.
